Christmas Ham Raffles supporting the Narrandera Lizards Junior Rugby League Club
Open Garden Day at Irons

Despite years of drought, local gardens opening for the Narrandera Town and Country Open Garden Day are looking resplendent in spring colour.

The feature garden, ‘Hillsbrae’, has developed gradually over the past forty years, changing many times to adapt to family life and needs. Mature trees are a feature of the garden that is protected by borders of century old Peppercorn trees. A majestic Morton Bay Fig tree and a beautiful White Cedar tree are family favourites. Lilly Pilly and Plumbago hedges are complimented by beds of David Austin roses, perennials and shrubbery. The outdoor living area is softened with the use of ornamental grapevines a fernery.

In town, we have five very different gardens open for viewing, from recently planted to more established gardens. Each garden offers a different style from which you can source inspiration for your own garden. Several of the gardens featuring this year have not been open to the public before.

The tranquil garden of ‘Hillsbrae’ at Sandigo, plus five gardens in the Narrandera township will open to raise vital funds for the work of the local branch of Can Assist.

Cost is $20 per person for entry to all gardens and includes a complimentary Devonshire Tea at the Uniting Church Hall.

Tickets can be purchased from Narrandera’s Marie Bashir Park from 9am until 2:30pm on the day.

A low cost plant stall will be available at the Uniting Church Hall.

A $10 light lunch is available in the garden at ‘Hillsbrae’.

Your ticket entitles you to a 25% discount at the Shady Gum Nursery. This generous offer excludes seedlings, vegetable beds, gift vouchers and already discounted stock. Betsy from Howya Bean coffee van will be set up in the carpark of the Shady Gum Nursery for your refreshments.
