Public Consultation on Bearded Dragon Sculpture Proposal

Narrandera Shire Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on a proposed Bearded Dragon Sculpture to be installed at the Narrandera Destination and Discovery Hub. The sculpture is designed to celebrate the local Ngarrung-dera totem, the Bearded Dragon, and is part of an effort to enhance the cultural and tourist attractions of the town.

The Bearded Dragon Sculpture will serve as a significant cultural landmark for Narrandera, offering tourists, and visitors an opportunity to engage with the region's rich heritage. It will also help strengthen the community's identity and cultural recognition in the broader region.

Council is keen to ensure the sculpture reflects the views of local residents, the Aboriginal community, and other stakeholders. Public consultation is open from 10 March 2025 to 10 April 2025, and Council encourages all interested individuals to share their thoughts on the sculpture's design and placement.

"We want this sculpture to be something the entire community can feel proud of and to encourage visitors both young and old, to stop and have a look," said Narrandera Shire Council Mayor, Cr Neville Kschenka.

"We believe that the input of local residents and stakeholders will help us create a piece of public art that is both culturally significant and visually impressive."

All interested individuals can provide feedback via an online form on Council's website. The deadline for feedback submissions is 10 April 2025.
