Parkside Cottage Museum Kick Off 2025 with Exciting New Exhibits and Ongoing History Adventures

After a remarkable 2024, filled with exciting projects, engaging displays, and a steady stream of visitors, Parkside Cottage Museum is ready to start 2025 with fresh new exhibits and opportunities to explore the rich history of Narrandera and the surrounding Shire.

Throughout 2024, Parkside Cottage Museum worked closely with the Cad Factory on the Old is New, New is Old project, showcasing diverse exhibits like Dolls Through the Ages and hosting numerous school groups and Probus clubs from across NSW and Victoria. The museum also played host to several town tours, offering unique insights into the history of our local area.

Now, as we enter 2025, the museum is proud to announce the launch of its latest display: Agriculture in Our Shire. This exhibit will feature a fascinating collection of historical photographs and farming items from a bygone era, offering visitors a glimpse into the agricultural heritage of the Narrandera region.

"We are excited to start the year with this new exhibit," said Narrandera Shire Council Mayor, Cr Neville Kschenka.

"Parkside Cottage Museum continues to be a valuable asset to our community, offering both residents and visitors a chance to connect with the history that has shaped our town and region. It's always great to see how the museum evolves, and this new display will be a wonderful addition to what is already a great resource for education and heritage."

If you haven't already visited Parkside Cottage Museum recently, now is the perfect time to stop by. From local history to tales of the town's sporting heroes, the museum has something for everyone. Curious about Dr Lethbridge or the story of Samuel McCaughey?  Or want to learn more about our region's sporting history? The museum's passionate volunteers are on hand to guide you through these fascinating stories and help you learn something new.

Additionally, the museum continues to benefit from the expertise of its consultant, Kim Biggs, whose monthly visits have been instrumental in securing grants that support ongoing conservation, preservation, and new display initiatives.

"We're fortunate to have Kim's support," said Mayor Kschenka.

"Her expertise has helped us preserve the rich history of our town for future generations."
