Nominations have opened for the 2025 Narrandera Shire Australia Day Awards.
We want to recognise the outstanding contributions of individuals and groups to the local community and need your nominations to let us know of these people you feel are deserving of these awards.
The categories for the 2025 Australia Day Awards are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Organisation of the Year
- Environmental Australia Day Award - Individual or Organisation
- Disability Advocate of the Year - Individual or Organisation
The awards will be presented at the Australia Day celebrations which will be held on Sunday, 26 January 2025. Multiple nominations are encouraged, and people can be nominated in more than one category - should they meet the criteria. Those who have been nominated in past years are eligible to be nominated for this year's awards.
The Citizen of the Year award is to recognise notable service to Narrandera Shire over several years. This may include actions of compassion, generosity, voluntary services, and bravery.
The Young Citizen of the Year award is to recognise notable service to Narrandera Shire by those aged 16-24 during the preceding year.
The Senior Citizen of the Year award is to recognise notable service to Narrandera Shire over several years. A nomination for this category does not prevent consideration for the Citizen of the Year nomination.
The Organisation of the Year award recognises outstanding service and/or achievement by an organisation (business group, club, or committee) to Narrandera Shire in the preceding year.
Environmental Australia Day Award - Individual or Organisation of the Year is for outstanding service/achievement for environmental initiatives by individuals or organisations within Narrandera Shire.
Disability Advocate of the Year - Individual or Organisation of the Year is for outstanding service/achievement for disability advocacy.
The Narrandera Shire Australia Day Planning Committee encourages all residents of the Narrandera Shire to submit nominations for the 2025 Australia Day Awards. All nominees will be advised that they have been nominated prior to the event. While the number of award recipients is limited, certificates are given to all who are nominated.

Nominations can be emailed to council@narrandera.nsw.gov.au, or marked 'Confidential' and addressed to Events and Visitor Services Team Leader, Narrandera Shire Council, 141 East Street NARRANDERA 2700.
The 2025 award nominations close at 4pm Friday 25 October 2024. It is a simple process so do not leave it to someone else. Get your nominations in this year!
