Narrandera Shire Council Launches Major CCTV Expansion to Boost Community Safety

Narrandera Shire Council is pleased to announce the significant expansion of its CCTV network with the installation of 57 new cameras throughout the shire. This initiative marks a major step in enhancing community safety and demonstrates the Council's ongoing commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all residents.

The installation of new cameras is a proactive measure aimed at preventing crime, assisting in investigations, and fostering a greater sense of security within the community. The expanded CCTV network will provide coverage across key areas of Narrandera, including Marie Bashir Park, Narrandera Water Tower, Lake Talbot Skywalk, main recreational areas, and the Barellan CBD.

Narrandera Shire Council Mayor Kschenka expressed enthusiasm about the project, "The addition of these new CCTV cameras represents a significant investment in our community's safety. By expanding our surveillance capabilities, we are not only enhancing our ability to respond to incidents but also taking a proactive stance in crime prevention. This project underscores our commitment to creating a safer environment for everyone in the Narrandera Shire."

Local law enforcement officials have also voiced strong support for the initiative. Superintendent of the Murrumbidgee Police District, Commander Ray Stynes APM, highlighted the importance of the project, "The CCTV project is an excellent way to strengthen the relationship between the police and the local government. It aligns with our community-focused approach to crime prevention and suppression. This initiative in Narrandera  provides the police with a valuable tool for both preventing and responding to crime."

The enhanced CCTV network is expected to play a crucial role in supporting local police efforts by providing valuable real-time data and evidence. This collaboration between Narrandera Shire Council and the local police will strengthen the overall effectiveness of crime prevention strategies and foster a greater sense of community trust and safety.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5 grants program.
