Narrandera Shire Council confirms that the Narrandera – Leeton Airport will remain open despite the likelihood of Regional Express grounding their fleet effective 6 April due to the dramatic economic effects of the Corona Virus (COVID 19).

The Airport remains a vital essential service to both Narrandera and Leeton communities with daily freight logistics and regular Air Ambulance, Toll Rescue and other emergency services requiring access.

Council confirms that a local charter company is still operating during this time from the Airport focussing on isolated work areas & other charter flights over coming months. Council staff are still required to undertake daily and weekly night inspections to meet the operational requirements of the Airport.

Council staff have maintained dialogue and receive regular updates from both the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Australian Airport Association in relation to the current Coronavirus (COVID 19) environment in relation to Airports.
