The rejuvenation of Hankinson Park is nearing completion following a total overhaul of the garden.
The Park now features a delightful footpath winding through camellia trees, each decorated by lavender cotton bushes, leading to a centrepiece Toulouse cast-iron charcoal coloured urn, with further trees to be planted around the garden area when weather conditions are suitable.
The landscape underwent heavy reconstruction with the previous garden completely removed. The layout was re-established by boxing up the footpath and pouring of concrete which features a stencilling detail finish. Finally, turf was laid across the surrounding area and a complex automated watering system was installed to ensure the garden will thrive during all seasons.
The project was initiated by the Narrandera Community and Friends (NCAF) group and brought to Council as a recommendation with concept design for Round 2 of the Stronger Country Communities Program.
Following the NSW Government’s announcement of a successful application, Council’s Section 355 Parks and Gardens committee, in consultation with the NCAF group, oversaw the planning and implementation of Hankinson Park, while Council’s OSR Team and Works Team together with contractors completed works.
