During the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 20 June 2023, the council members debated and discussed the future of the Stage 1B project. After careful consideration, Councillors moved to defer indefinitely the Stage 1B of the Narrandera Business Centre Master Plan project, pending further discussions about the desire to undertake additional design works.
In light of this decision, Narrandera Shire Council would like to extend its appreciation to the community members who have shown great interest in and provided valuable input into the project. Their contributions have been invaluable in shaping the direction of the plan.
Additionally, Council will seek approval to reallocate the funds previously earmarked for Stage 1B, totalling $994,726 under the Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Phase 3 program. These funds will now be reallocated towards various community projects including:
- Narrandera Tennis Courts - $250,000
- Senior Citizens building - $120,000
- Aerodrome - Air League building - $60,000
- Brewery Flat footpaths - $174,726
- Barellan Museum - $40,000
- Brewery Flat Upgrade project - $105,000
- Tiger Moth Building - $170,000
- Town Signage - $25,000
- Barellan Sportsground - $50,000
Narrandera Shire Council remains committed to the development and growth of the Narrandera Business Centre. While the future of Stage 1B is being reassessed, Council is fully aware of the importance of community engagement and will continue to involve the community in further discussions and decision-making processes.
