Celebrate Australia Day 2025 in Narrandera

Australia Day 2025 will be marked with a series of exciting events across Narrandera Shire, offering something for everyone. From the official Awards Ceremony to family-friendly activities, the day promises to celebrate the community, culture, and fun. 

Australia Day Awards Ceremony

Join us at Marie Bashir Park at 8.30am for the Australia Day Awards Ceremony, following a free community breakfast from 7.30am, provided by the Narrandera Lions Club. The ceremony will include an Acknowledgment of Country by Tahlia Gilbert, Wiradjuri Dancers, music by Belinda Shanahan, and flag raising by the Narranera Air Cadets. Awards will include Disability Advocate, Organisation of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and the Environmental Award. 2025 Survival Day March

At 11am, the Narrandera NAIDOC Committee will lead the Survival Day March from the Ambulance Station to Memorial Park, celebrating Australia's oldest continuous culture with dance, music, and speeches. The theme is "Reflect, Respect, and Celebrate - We're All Part of the Story."

Australia Day at Barellan and Grong Grong

Enjoy a community bbq, bush poetry, and free pool entry at Barellan Pool from 11am to 2pm. 

At Grong Grong, attend a Flag Raising Ceremony at 12pm, followed by a bbq, yabby races, and more from 12.30pm.

Kayaking on Lake Talbot

From 12pm to 4pm, Lake Talbot Boat Ramp will offer free kayak hire to explore the scenic lake and river. 

Australia Day Concert and Movies

Enjoy live music at the CRC Church Hall from 1pm to 4pm or watch two Australian films at the Plaza Theatre: Oddball at 1pm (PG) and June Again at 3pm (M). 

Workshops: Wiradjuri Art and Bush Tucker Sweet Treats

From 1pm to 4pm, join Sandhill's Artefacts for a Wiradjuri Art Workshop and Bush Tucker Sweet Treats Workshop at the Narrandera Arts and Community Centre. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 02 6959 5545.
