Narrandera Shire Council is excited to announce that the Bundidgerry Walking Track enhancement project is nearing completion with the construction phase now largely finished. The final touch being the installation of new signage is all that remains.
Kicking off on 1 August 2024, this maintenance project has given around 2.4km of the Bundidgerry Walking Track a fresh new lease on life. It stretches from the Lake Talbot boat ramp area, winding past the Rotary lookout, and finishing up at the Rocky Water Holes Bridge.
Key highlights of the completed project include:
- Enhanced Accessibility: The track now offers a smoother, more enjoyable experience for walkers, joggers, and nature enthusiasts.
- Erosion Control: Significant measures have been implemented to address and rectify past erosion issues, ensuring the track's longevity.
- Preventative Measures: New strategies have been introduced to safeguard the track against future environmental challenges.
Throughout this project, the Council's commitment to caring for the environment has shone through. The team has followed strict standards to minimise impacts on local flora and fauna, and the eco-friendly contractor, TRC Trails, has successfully adhered to these guidelines. We've also worked closely with local Indigenous groups to respect and protect culturally significant areas.
The Bundidgerry Walking Track will soon boast enhanced facilities that promote health, well-being, and community connection. As we eagerly await the final installation of signage, we want to extend our gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding during the project.
We're proud to announce that this enhancement project has been funded by the NSW State Government's Crown Improvement Program and Narrandera Shire Council.
